Don Started his college experience at Northern Illinois University, however, being the first person in his family to go on to higher education, Don struggled. After recommitting to higher education Don found a better fit at community college and quickly excelled at Harper Community College. Here Don took the core classes he would need in order to pursue his bachelor degree.
Being raised with parents of faith, and being a camp counselor at Camp Awana in Fredonia, WI for a number of years, Don also studied at Moody Bible Institute.
Next, Don attended Western Illinois University and completed his studies towards a Bachelor's Degree receiving a BA in Philosophy from Western.
While serving full-time is the United States Army, Don was able to complete a Master Degree in Adult Education. Being passionate about education this was a natural next step in his continuous drive towards personal growth and attaining more knowledge.
Highly selective senior service college educational program that develops strategic leaders by educating future leaders in the analysis, evaluation and refinement of professional expertise in war, strategy, operations, national security, resource management, and responsible command.
- Completed graduate research thesis on how officers could maximize professional development through directed self-study
- Acted as Africa Command Chief of Staff in a large national security simulation, leading fourteen senior international students through a demanding exercise
Currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree. The irony is not lost on any of us that Don is acquiring this high degree of education at the school he struggled with at the beginning of his educational journey.
